The cream of assam is very pleasant, with a malty aroma and quite light flavor. Be careful brewing: more than three minutes, or too strong a brew, will make it bitter. But the tips are beautiful and it's a good breakfast tea.

Two of my discerning tea-drinking friends and i all find large namsang an ideal afternoon tea. It has a pleasing, somewhat malty taste and lovely floral fragrance that make this tea best enjoyed with neither milk nor sugar: it doesn't need them. And the large, beautiful leaves unfurl to show off their sturdiness. All three of us recommend this tea highly.

This is still my "go-to" tea. All time, hands down favourite tea, especially with milk. The ultimate cup to curl up with on a dreary, wet and cold afternoon (so common in southeast alaska!) I just revisited this tea. Amazing, a smooth assam with enough bracing tannins to balance against the lovely malt that almost all of assam tea's blacks deliver. I have been always a fan of cream of assam big leaf tea with very delicate bouquet of aroma. But this 2012 2nd flash surprised me, and i can reaaaly say- this is the best tea i had as a cream of assam. It has stronger body, much more intense color when brewed if compered to regular coa (so i even put less tea and it lasts longer). Impressed and happy have tried it. Absolutely recommend to all pure tea lovers!!!!!!!

This is a complex tea from start to finish. The dry leaves are aromatic and have a faint dried apricot scent. When i pour the hot water, the apricot smell is volatile and dissipates rapidly. A subtle malty aroma follows. In the cup the malty smell has company - a pleasant "greener" aroma, not like green tea but somewhat like green plants. this tea is more astringent and not quite as silky as cream. Slurping it really accentuates the malty character. Allowing the tea to sit in your mouth allows the tannins to work - wow! This will make your cheeks tingle. It's especially nice as the smell sensations combine with the mouth feels - but this is true in any good cup of tea. for me, this tea lingers on the cheeks and most of my tongue. I don't think you'd want to forget about this one and let it steep too long. It's pretty brisk so don't let it bite.

"cream" or "coa" has been my favorite assam tea for several years now. This tea has an earthy, nutty smell as the hot water is poured onto the leaves. The tea brewed lighter in color than i expected, a light-medium amber. So i was surprised by its thick and silky body. Coa is tannic but not bitter and lingers on the tongue and cheeks for quite a while. Cream still might be my favorite - a delicious and satisfying cup.

January 12 2013
This year's assam breakfast took me by surprise. The fragrance coming up as i poured water onto the leaves was the maltiest, foodiest smell of any of the summer harvest teas i've tried so far. There was a sweetness to the smell that reminded me of steamed carrots. The brew is delicious and much smoother than i recall of last year's crop. the only thing i didn't like about this tea is that it became somewhat bitter as it cooled. But at warmer temperatures this was not an issue. This is a great tea for a first pot in the morning.

This is a stunning chai! Steeped traditionally, with milk added and brought to a light simmer, it produces a smorgasboard of delightful spice notes; cinnamon, cardamon!!, Cloves, over a lovely black tea base. January 09 2013
I'm enjoying a pot of this tea right now. This is a wonderfully tannic and astringent tea - it's much more complex than the large namsang. While it is very malty and brothy like the namsang, it has much more presence. The royal rongit grabs your attention, while the large namsang can be more of a background tea, as it is more timid. my whole mouth still feels this rongit a full minute after swallowing. I suspect this is a bold enough tea to hold its own with flavorful foods.

January 09 2013
I've been buying this tea for 6-7 years now and i find it to be consistent in quality and a good value. I am by no means a tea expert, but i do enjoy tea immensely and drink quite a bit. Large namsang is a good choice if you want a flavorful tea that isn't too "in your face" or astringent. to try this tea, i made it a bit strong and let it steep for about 4 minutes. As soon as hot water hits the leaves it is pleasantly aromatic, and the tea has a medium amber color. It has a malty aroma in the cup and a wholesome, brothy flavor. The body is medium, the mouth-feel not as silky or "fat" as some teas, and it a smooth tea - not too astringent. One of the things i like about this namsang harvest is its slightly bitter finish - way on the back of my tongue in the center. From past experiences with this tea, it is typically forgving - which i need because i seldom watch the time carefully. I'll continue to buy this tea without hesitation. It's gentle throughout the day, and excellent with about any meal.

1. All experience is idosyncratic and subjective.
2. I am a "supertaster". (Google it!)
once in a while a taste/aroma concatenation, is for me, a full body experience. I am overwhelmed by the material in my mouth. A local indian restaurant has a moong bean salad that does this to me every time. A japanese restaurant has an agadashi tofu that seizes me with every bite.
i never know when a new taste/aroma will do this to me. My reactions range from pounding the table and stamping my feet (yes, i have done this in public) to being frozen in place as the sensation courses through me from head to toe.
the first sip of this tea hit me with full body experience. But this was a new experience - a profound sense of peace and calm. The first sip was as though i was being held by a loving goddess. I have not felt anything like this since my kensho in 1987.
if a tea can trigger enlightenment, this is the tea. (At least, for me!)

I cannot describe this tea in a tea- specialist fashion, but one thing i know- this is the best tea i've been drinking for past few years!!! Me and my entire family are big tea drinkers, so since childhood have tried all type of teas- this is the one. Has no any other taste to distract you from complete enjoyment of pure black tea with its' multilevel flavors (this is my description of this aroma:) despite on the really higher cost i keep buying it since cannot force myself to switch to any other tea. Thank you for being persistent, keeping the quality and taste unchanged over years!

I have always loved ginger peach tea from republic of tea, but i always wondered why they called it ginger peach when you could hardly taste the ginger. That is not the case here. The spice of ginger with the sweet peach flavor is spot on. I know from experience that this is an awesome summer time iced tea. I like to sweeten it just a bit. Highly recommended.

However it is that assam is creating these cream teas, they've got it down to an art. I love this tea! As with their other flavored teas, the flavor is not overwhelming. It's wonderful with dessert.

I can't rate this tea higher as the flavor is lacking. But to be fair, most decaffeinated teas are this way. Perhaps i've grown too used to the rich flavor of the double cream earl grey!! What i did appreciate is that it didn't have the metallic taste i sometimes find in decaf teas. My husband, who prefers black teas, did enjoy this one. I'll likely stick to caffeinated earl grey and save it for mornings.

I received a free sample of this tea with my most recent order and am enjoy my first cup of it as i write this. I will definitely be ordering more of this tea. The lavender flavor is wonderful! I made a cup for my husband and asked him what he thought. He remarked that the flavor reminded him of a pastry. It has a wonderful, light, sweet taste. Excellent tea!

This has become one of my evening go-to favorites. I love the fresh mint taste; far superior to any other mint teas i've had. The bergamot is not distinct; in fact, i can't honestly say i can detect it. But there is a quality to this mint that makes it special.

I have to say that organic honey n' cream is my absolute favorite out of all the assams. It is the perfect tea to wake you up in the morning. It is wonderful with whole milk, cream, and silk products (almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk). The smooth rich flavor doesn't get lost with the added products.

If you like the taste of rooibos tea, this will knock your socks off! The aroma is thick lime, which is so enticing. The body is much more rooibos, which carries over into a lime-and-rooibos finish. This tea has a very full mouth-feel, and feels very "filling". one brewing note: the lime and rooibos flavors marry better the longer you steep it. I started out at around 3-4 minutes, and it tasted very separated. At 6 minutes or longer, i am getting a smooth, full, complex blending. Much richer tea at 6 minutes.

This tea seems simple, but it is very satisfying. Thick peach aroma, which shifts to a distinct green tea body. The sencha tea is clean and not grassy, which i appreciate. The finish is very peach again, and it lingers on the palate. The tea is clean and delicious.

This is a pretty amazing tea, especially for a caffeine-free drink. It has the delicious aroma of tart-sweet apricots and peaches. The body is an elegant combination of honeybush and the fruit flavors. (And yes, honeybush does taste exactly like honey, somehow.) The finish also has the honey taste married with the fruit. Well done blending! this is my favorite late night tea, when i can't have anything with caffeine in it. It isn't too-sweet or cloying. The honey and the tart go so well together.

Phenomenal! The cream notes push this tea to a berry nose (even more evident in the earl grey double cream!) And a silky mouth feel. Seems like drinking a minty blueberry tea with milk. Astonishing, and this from one who shies away from 'flavoured' tea.

This truly tastes like mango tea--not assam tea with mangos added. The aroma and body and finish are all full of rich mango flavor with a great mouthfeel and finish. this tea is excellent by itself, but i enjoy it most blended with the fruity apricot assam blend. The sharp apricot goes beautifully with the sweeter, wider mango taste. i also think this could make a thirst-quenching iced tea. I'll try it come this summer.

This tea smells and tastes like a rich passion fruit concoction. The assam tea is definitely present, but you smell and taste full, wide passion fruit. My partner does not like tea. At all. No matter what tea i ask her to taste, she says sincerely: "it just tastes like dishwater to me." this tea is the only tea in 17 years that my partner has asked to taste again, and then chosen to make on her own. Its aroma and taste are like cocoa laced with peppermint. You only notice the green tea if you are really looking for it. a great tea by anybody's standards.

This tea has a unique 'citrus' aftertaste that brings me back to it over and over again. A lovely malty and tangy aroma, a somewhat thinner body compared to other assams, not too much tannic bite, and a crisp citrus finish. This has become my go-to assam. I drink it neat, but it would go well with a bit of milk.

January 22 2012
This is the blend that got me started enjoying flavored black teas. It has a wonderful sweet and malty aroma, and the taste is amazing--the orange is in the flavor of the tea, if that makes sense. It tastes like someone grew a tea plant with orange fruit. Natural. (Unlike other tea blends where the flavors sit in layers, or taste artificial.) Very highly recommended.

I tried this tea for the first time the other day and was prepared to leave a poor review. It fell terribly flat. I decided to give it one more try and am so glad i did! I obviously did something wrong in brewing it the first time. This time around i'm really loving this tea. It has a wonderful light, sweet taste. I brewed a larger pot and had a bit left over and sipped it cold as well. This makes a wonderful iced tea also. Very refreshing!

The earl grey flavor of this tea is definitely very light, but too strong and it would overwhelm the taste of the tea itself. I love earl greys and am happy to have it paired with a light tea that i can enjoy in the evening. I usually like my earl greys to be quite strong, but because this is a white tea its exactly what i was anticipating.

I'm a long time fan of earl greys and it's been my go-to tea for 20 years. I've had many brands and varieties including assam's earl grey cream (very good) and double cream earl grey (not currently listed on the site but outstanding!). My taste runs towards the stronger bergamot flavor. The flavor of this one is quite mild. For those who prefer a more mildly flavored tea, this one will be appreciated. I wouldn't mind a bit more of the rose petal and lemon peel taste. I found it difficult to detect. Overall, this is a good tea but perhaps not for one who likes an earl grey that packs a punch.

January 08 2012
I've had a number of varieties of rooibos and, though i liked them they were always a bit too sweeter than i preferred. I decided to give this green rooibos a try and was pleasantly surprised. It has a naturally sweet flavor of honey without being too sweet. If you typically add sugar or honey to your tea i'd recommend trying green rooibos without sweeteners first. It is definitely similar to a green tea without being grassy and has a very smooth flavor. This is a great option for those who enjoy green tea but may be sensitive to any amount of caffeine.

A lovely bergamot/spice blend that hovers over the white tea, which, i feel, can't fill the tea base that a classic earl grey needs. This may be perfect for those who love a light black or green tea, but for a full cup that balances the richness of black tea with the delicate nose of the bergamot citrus, this might disappoint.

A softer, more linear cream of assam than the satrupa cream of assam, a bit more floral in the nose; the biscuity malt flavours come out easily and there is a smoothness to the liquid. No astringent taste, even when made a bit strong. A lovely assam to wake up to!

This is a lovely surprise! Unlike most green teas with strong vegetal flavours, the namring actually has a unique additional of a light floral and a mild nutty note over the requisite marine notes that are indicative of what i feel is quality green teas. the middle note is that of a subdued asparagus and fresh peas that translate to a sweet rounded taste, with a slight astringent mouth feel. a must-taste for any green tea aficionados!

If you're looking for a pure tea for everyday drinking that satisfies but won't break the bank, you can't go wrong with the kama black.
